Dear UCF Family,

I hope this message finds you well. My name is Chris Cacciatore, President of the Men’s Lacrosse Club at the University of Central Florida. Over the past few years our club has been growing, and with the recent hiring of Orlando Native, Mike Von Kamecke, as head coach, our club is continuing this upward trend. Our success can be credited to the hard work and dedication of our new coaching staff and players, and of course, the continuous support of our growing fan base. As a club sport at UCF, we pride ourselves on the fact that we operate the program without university assistance.

Our team is a part of the Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA), a national organization of non-NCAA college lacrosse programs. The MCLA currently operates in the United States and Canada with over 200 programs across ten conferences. Since the members of the MCLA are not permitted to receive athletic scholarships, player dues contribute to a large portion of the team’s funding. Last year, the league average for player dues was upwards of $3000 per player, while ours was only $1400.

Here at UCF, our philosophy is different. We don’t want team fees to keep players off the field; students in college have enough of a struggle paying solely for the cost of school. In order to keep our players on the field, we maintain a conservative budget and strive to keep our player dues among the lowest in the country. Our goal is to attract talented players in the region without pushing them away due to the cost. In an effort to raise money each year, our team hosts several youth clinics, sells team apparel, and hosts an annual recruiting camp for high school players who are interested in becoming future Knights.

While these ventures along with player dues cover a large amount of our costs, we are still short of our financial goals. This is where we lean on our alumni and supporters the most because we can’t do it without you.

I have explained all of this to you in hopes of demonstrating the value that a donation will bring to our program. This year, any donations received we will put toward our Coaching Fund. We believe that in the interest of progressing as a program, we need to have the best coaching in the nation. These donations will help us continue to keep our dues low, while allowing us to provide our new and improved coaching staff with the compensation they deserve. We can’t thank you enough for your support of our team in our efforts to keep growing as a program.
